YOGA HIKE SWIM DETOX

Winter | Torcross, South Devon

Winter 2025

January 9th to 12th

Start your 2025 the right way!

Our January detox retreat includes all the ingredients to inspire wellness for the year head:

Detox your body....

4 days of incredible food, all cooked for you by our talented chefs, all healthy but delicious. A great way to detox after Christmas and set the right path for the year ahead!

Build lasting strength and flexibility...

4 days of Yoga workshops ensuring you learn 'all encompassing' sequences for mind and body. (Asana, Breathwork and Meditation). We will even send you home with videos and handouts of the sequences so you can continue your new practice at home throughout 2025.

Fire up your immunity...

Short cold water plunges in the beautiful ocean (right next to our retreat house) will boost your immunity, make you feel amazing and spark those endorphins. Our 'dips' are guided by a professional water safety team who will also run an hour seminar on the benefits of cold water and how to stay safe.

Get back to nature...

If there is anything that can create that feeling of awe, it's the incredible scenery here in South Devon, The retreat home, and our daily coast path walks, are in an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), and within a Natural Nature Reserve designated as an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest). It's a must see location that should be on every bucket list.

Enjoy a warming weekend...

If you are worried about those cold dips, fear not! They are optional! If you do go ahead, we have all the best ways to warm up on hand. Hot flasks, spa robes, a large hot tub, an outdoor hot shower in our pretty courtyard just steps from the beach, roll top baths and a cosy log burner.

Yoga

During your detox retreat in Torcross, Natalie, your highly experienced instructor, will run multiple in-depth workshops over the four days. These are not your average yoga classes, these are sessions design to educate, as well as move. You will go home with a huge amount of new knowledge, supplemented by handouts and videos of every sequence you learn so you can continue to practice throughout 2025 at home.

Classes will take place on the ground floor of the retreat house, in our beautiful beachside studio (Start Bay Studio), with fabulous views across Slapton Ley. Small class sizes mean a more personal experience, giving you the opportunity to learn the importance of alignment, while also getting the chance to ask questions and master various movements.

Our retreats are all suitable for complete beginners as well as more seasoned yogis. Before each retreat, you'll get the chance to privately discuss your ability and any specific health concerns with Natalie, ensuring that each class is carefully adapted to suit all needs. Yoga

During your yoga retreat in Torcross, our in-house teacher will run multiple classes every day combining a mixture of energising and restorative sessions including the ultimate in relaxation: Yoga Nidra.

Classes will take place in our purpose built studio with its dedicated yoga wall for ultra deep stretches, or outside on the large terrace enjoying fabulous countryside views.

Hike

The world famous South West Coast Path is just a 20 minute walk away from our retreat base in the peaceful village of Slapton. Each day, after a nourishing breakfast we'll pull on our hiking boots and trek across Devon's rolling fields and dramatic cliff tops.

We're always armed with plenty of hot drinks and snacks, making the most of hidden beaches, secret coves and some of UK's most beautiful coastline.

We'll hike the coastal path whatever the weather, covering up to 10 miles per day so it's recommended you pack decent walking footwear, waterproofs, a sturdy rucksack and your swim gear for any impromptu wild dips.

Check out our recommend kit list for full details.

Swim

For the adventurous among us, there are opportunities for memorable and invigorating wild cold water immersion experiences.

At Yoga Field & Sea, we dip in the ocean every day, all year round, to take advantage of the many health benefits cold water offers our minds and bodies.

In winter, the water will be chilly (around 9 degrees C), so it's important to learn about staying safe - especially if our sessions inspire you to carry on swimming at home. The safety crew will educate you on planning safe dips, how to understand the tides, swell, wind and weather, and how to ensure you don't get too cold.

Sea activities are led by our certified team of water sports experts who live and breathe the ocean life here in Devon. You can find out more about the team, here.

Dining

We love food at Yoga Field & Sea so we have designed a superb detox menu that makes the most of the local, organic, fresh produce available from the local area.

Our talented chef, Janey Syrett, is incredible and is always a massive hit among guests who are always delighted by her fresh, creative dishes.  Her dishes are inspired by her years as Head Chef in some of the South West's top restaurants, and from famous chefs such as Yotam Ottolenghi and Tara Wigley.

Throughout your stay, all of your meals, snacks and drinks (not including alcohol) are provided by our in-house chef. Whilst the weekend is about detoxing, you won't go hungry!

We are so lucky to have fresh, wild-caught seafood from the local areas which we offer as part of a pescatarian menu, however we can also cater for full vegetarian or vegan diets.

On Saturday, Rupert Cooper (ex England rugby player turned amazing chef), will host a full day experiential cooking course where you will learn to make all sorts of healthy, yummy food. In the evening our cooking efforts will be rewarded, we'll eat everything we learnt to make at our large communal table overlooking the ocean.
